TCM andrology is an independent branch of TCM clinical discipline in the 1980s. The establishment of this discipline not only summarized and sublimated the basic theory of TCM andrology, but also made a breakthrough in TCM diagnosis and treatment of andrology diseases。Impotence (erectile dysfunction), male infertility, chronic prostatitis, prostatic hyperplasia and other common male diseases are almost intractable diseases in the world, and the use of traditional Chinese medicine can often achieve satisfactory curative effect, which is loved by patients。Corresponding to gynecological diseases of traditional Chinese medicine, "gland, sex, sperm, fertility" is known as the four main diseases of andrology, sexual function (sex), reproductive function (fertility) of the anatomical, physiological, pathological basis is the main gonad and accessory gonad (gland), reproductive function is the complex of glands, sex plus semen (sperm)。They are both different and related。Among them, the gland is the basis, the sex is the image, the essence is the substance, and the fertility is the result。The key problems urgently need to be solved in the discipline field of this key discipline are the further improvement of basic theories and the basic and clinical research of male diseases such as prostate diseases (benign prostatic hyperplasia, chronic prostatitis), male infertility, male climacteric syndrome, impotence, etc。Since 1993, the Department of Surgery of the hospital has carried out the diagnosis and treatment of some male diseases。In February 2001, the establishment of an independent male department was started, and it was officially established in May. At the same time, it began to recruit postgraduate students in the clinical surgery direction of integrated Chinese and Western medicine。In 2003, it began to recruit master students in male department of Traditional Chinese surgery。In 2004, the number of doctors increased to five。In 2005, it was approved as the Yunnan Andrology Research Center of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, and the number of doctors increased to 6。In 2006, the department passed the provincial key TCM specialty acceptance and was listed as the key TCM specialty in Yunnan Province, and was named the famous TCM department in Yunnan Province in 2007。In May 2009, it was approved as the construction unit of the key Research Laboratory of chronic prostatitis Bushen Tongli of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the number of department staff increased to 9。In October 2009, it was approved as the only Chinese medicine male science construction point of the key discipline of Chinese medicine of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine。In 2010, it was approved as the only male science base of traditional Chinese medicine in the continuing education base of advantageous disciplines of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine。At present, it has completed the phased construction goals and tasks according to the requirements of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine key disciplines construction plan, and passed the mid-term inspection and evaluation of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the end of 2012。
